PISTOL FUNDAMENTALS
Shooting fundamentals, weapons and ammo selection, concealment options, and more
This four-hour class will introduce you to shooting fundamentals, pistol anatomy and nomenclature, caliber and ammunition selection, concealment and carry options, and the basics of deadly force law. Taking place both in the classroom and on the range, it is our most popular pistol class for no-nonsense, friendly handgun instruction.

INTRO TO HANDGUNS
(CLASSROOM ONLY)
Gun safety and handling fundamentals in a classroom setting
During this highly informative basic pistol seminar, we will teach you safe gun handling, including trigger discipline, field stripping, cleaning, reassembling, and storing your firearms.
The most common causes of gun accidents are ignorance and carelessness. Let Mountain Rose Defensive teach you the proper mindset and skills necessary to safely use, clean, and store your firearm before you ever fire a shot.
This classroom course does not include any live fire training or range instruction and is suitable for all ages and skill levels.

AR-15 FUNDAMENTALS
Basic training on America's most popular rifle platform
New to AR-15 rifles and short on time? Students will learn safe long gun handling, shooting fundamentals, rifle anatomy and nomenclature, safe storage and cleaning, and ammunition selection.
NRA RANGE SAFETY OFFICER CERTIFICATION
Become a certified RSO in just one day
This course is nine hours long and conducted in a classroom. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO, range standard operating procedures (SOPs), range inspection, range rules, range briefings, emergency procedures, and firearm stoppages and malfunctions.
Firing ranges that have a full-time Range Safety Officer on staff during business hours may qualify for discounted insurance rates. This is training that pays for itself, whether in the form of decreased insurance premiums or increased peace of mind for everyone on the range. Be safe, be smart, be certified.
INTRO TO PERSONAL SAFETY
Because you don't have to be a victim
This class covers important topics such as conflict avoidance, how to make yourself less appealing to criminals, personal security options (lethal and non-lethal, including pepper spray and tasers), and home security.
If you aren't ready for firearms yet but want to be safer both in and out of the home, this is your introduction to defensive training. Perfect for all ages and skill levels, this class can be taught at our home range or we can bring it to your church group, women's club, scout meeting, or other social venue.
PRIVATE LESSONS

Whether you're a total beginner or a seasoned shooter, we can help you shoot better. Let our credentialed, experienced professionals observe and instruct you on the range. You will gain confidence as your skills improve and your familiarity with shooting increases. These intensive two-hour lessons are designed to help you make the most of your time on the range.
Price includes targets and range fees. Ammunition is not included but can be purchased from Mountain Rose Defensive Training as needed.

ABOUT
Abigail Summar teaches shooting lessons and personal safety classes at a private range in the beautiful North Georgia mountains.

An avid shooting enthusiast and student herself, she saw a need for friendly firearms instruction in her area and founded Mountain Rose Defensive Training in 2017. Prior to beginning her law school career in 2022, Abigail served as a patrol officer and then detective for a city police agency near Atlanta. She maintains current POST certification and is also certified as an instructor and chief range safety officer by Rangemaster, NRA, and USCCA. She has been privileged to train with renowned instructors such as Tom and Lynn Givens, Brian Hill, Claude Werner, John Lovell, Mike Benedict, Lee Weems, and Chuck Haggard.
